1. What types of photography do you offer?

Self & Soul Photography offers a range of services including portraits, headshots, family, senior, maternity, newborn, wedding, event, sports and branding photography. If you have a project that isn't listed, reach out. I'd love to hear what you have in mind.

2. Where are you located? Do You Travel?

I'm based in Virginia and primarily serve the Richmond and surrounding areas. Yes! Travel is available for sessions, weddings, events and commercial projects outside my standard service area. Travel fees may apply depending on the location.

3. I've never had professional photos taken. What if I'm nervous?

That's completely normal! You don't need to know how to pose or what to do in front of the camera. I'll guide you throughout the session and create a relaxed environment so you can focus on being yourself.

4. Can I request specific poses or shots?

Absolutely! If you have specific poses, images or inspiration you'd like to recreate, we can discuss them during your pre-session consultation. Sometimes the best ideas happen in the moment, so we're always free to experiment and create something new during your session.

5. What should I wear for my session?

Wear something that makes you feel comfortable and confident. I'll help you think through colors, coordinating outfits, and what will photograph well based on your session and location. Most importantly, I want what you wear to feel like you.

6. How do I book a session?

Start by reaching out through the contact or booking page. We'll discuss what you're looking for, choose the right collection and determine availability. A signed agreement and retainer are required to secure your date.

Frequently Asked Questions

7. How far in advance should I book?

For portraits and headshots, I recommend booking at least 2–3 weeks in advance when possible. Weddings, larger events and specialty sessions should be booked as early as possible, especially during popular seasons. Last-minute availability may be possible. Just ask!

8. Can we meet before the session?

Absolutely! I believe getting to know each other before your session can help you feel more comfortable and prepared. We can meet in person if our schedules align or connect virtually through Zoom if an in-person meeting isn't convenient. Either way, we'll use the time to discuss your vision, answer questions and make sure we're on the same page.

9. What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

I understand that life happens. Because your retainer reserves your date and prevents me from accepting another booking, retainers are non-refundable. If you need to reschedule, we'll work together to find another date that works for both of us. Your photography agreement will outline the specific cancellation and rescheduling terms.

10. Do you photograph businesses and organizations?

Yes. Self & Soul Photography works with businesses, organizations and community partners to create professional imagery for events, marketing, branding, social media and other visual-content needs. For larger or ongoing projects, I'm happy to create a customized proposal.

11. Do you have a recommended videographer?

Yes! If you're looking to add video coverage to your photography experience, I'm happy to recommend a trusted videographer whose work and professionalism I feel confident putting in front of my clients. Just let me know you're interested.

12. What makes Self & Soul Photography different?
